About this place
At Koanosuke, a good place to start is by choosing between a Thai-style curry and a rice bowl. The medium green and yellow curries are both served with rice and are listed at 820 yen each. One visitor remembered the green curry for its coconut-milk sweetness and mellow flavour; another enjoyed the depth of flavour beneath the yellow curry’s heat and said they would order it again. There are toppings to choose from, too, including Thai-style omelette, chicken and sliced pork. Toppings are priced separately from rice, so bear that in mind when ordering.
For something different, the options include a pork and natto rice bowl, pork stir-fried with garlic sauce, and a braised pork rice bowl. One diner who ordered the small braised pork bowl reported that it came generously topped with meat and a substantial serving of rice. Another visitor found the small size filling, and described the pork as tender enough to fall apart. If you are unsure about portion size, starting with the smaller bowl may be a sensible choice.
For a meal centred on soup, choose tom yum with vegetables only, tom gai with chicken, or tom kung with shrimp. One visitor praised the balance of sourness, heat and salt in the tom yum; another liked pairing a Thai-style omelette with chicken. The different fillings also make the soups an easy alternative when you fancy something other than curry or a rice bowl.
For a drink after the meal or a pause during the day, there is cha, served hot or iced, as well as a Thai milk tea float. The Tanakamonzencho branch offers both dine-in and takeaway, with counter seating available. It opens for lunch and dinner on weekdays and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
